The goal: to prepare professionals for the complex challenges of Smart Charging through immersive mixed reality technologies.
ElaadNL, established by Dutch grid operators, is renowned for its continuous research and testing of smart and sustainable charging solutions for electric vehicles.
Their focus is on understanding charging behavior, analyzing the growth of electric mobility, and developing suitable charging infrastructure.
At the Testlab in Arnhem (NL), ElaadNL experts collaborate with manufacturers from around the world to test and refine the latest technologies for charging electric cars, trucks, and buses.
Their work focuses on future-proofing the electric transportation system.
Innovation
In close collaboration with ElaadNL, an innovative idea has blossomed: enhancing existing charging station training for professionals with immersive technology. Thanks to the existing 3D model at ElaadNL, we were able to quickly start developing an advanced instructional procedure training. Over the past weeks, Connec2, inspired by the provided material, has been working intensively on an initial setup of a virtual training. With driven enthusiasm, this innovative approach to learning and development is taking shape, utilizing the power of mixed reality to create an immersive and effective training experience.
Imagine: you and yout team are standing around a BlueCurrent charging station, but instead of the usual training session, you step into the virtual world.
You not only see the real world around you, but also virtual elements that bring the procedure of installing and commissioning a charging station to life.
And all of this is enhanced with guidelines and voice-over that guide you through each step of the process. How cool is that?
Launch of the mixed reality training
On Thursday, March 7th, the launch of the mixed reality training took place at ElaadNL. Connec2 presented an impressive demonstration of immersive technology, allowing multiple participants to simultaneously experience the training procedure around a BlueCurrent charging station. The training was not only guided by a voice-over providing step-by-step instructions while participants could see both the real world and each other, but also by a colleague who virtually entered the immersive world to remotely assist the participants. It’s educational, innovative, and above all, incredibly fun!
And in this way, ElaadNL is taking significant strides towards a future of groundbreaking education in the world of electric mobility.
